WEST ALLEGHENY SCHOOL DISTRICT – WILSON ELEMENTARY

On July 10, 2013, West Allegheny School District Board of Directors approved the schematic design, scope of work, and project budget for an addition and alterations to Wilson Elementary School.  The scope of work includes a 5,000 SF addition that will house the district administration offices.  Alterations to the existing building include a new school administration suite, dedicated library, dedicated cafeteria, large group instruction (LGI) space, and “Collabratory” (shared open space in the middle of the school).  The school will have a completely new layout of educational spaces and complete overhaul of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.  The design includes emphasis on introducing natural daylight into the interior spaces of the building through the utilization of strategically placed light wells, skylights, and transom glass.
